Leather shorts size
The right size is particularly important for Lederhosen, as genuine cowhide leather adapts slightly when worn. Please take a moment to carefully check your measurements to find the best fit.
1. How to measure correctly
Please measure directly on your body, not over clothing:
✔ Waist circumference (most important measurement)
Measure the circumference of your waist at the point where the Lederhosen should sit (usually slightly below the navel).
✔ Hip circumference
Measure at the widest point of your hips.
✔ Tip
Use a flexible tape measure and do not pull it too loose or too tight.
2. Important note about leather
Genuine cowhide leather behaves differently than fabric:
- Leather is a bit stiffer at first
- it adapts slightly after being worn several times
- the Lederhosen become more comfortable over time
👉 Therefore, the pants should initially fit snugly, but not uncomfortably.
3. Difference: Short vs. Long Lederhosen
🟤 Short Lederhosen (Kurz)
- Usually a bit sportier fit
- Ideal for Oktoberfest & warm days
- Freedom of movement is paramount
👉 Recommendation: choose your normal clothing size
🟤 Long Lederhosen (Lang)
- Slightly more classic cut
- More coverage & traditional look
- Often worn for festive occasions
👉 Recommendation: also choose your normal size, for a sturdier build, rather one size larger
4. Size recommendation (general)
If you are between two sizes:
- rather slim → smaller size
- rather sturdy → larger size
5. Avoid common mistakes
- Do not order by jeans size
- Do not order too large "for safety"
- Do not measure over thick clothing
